Leeds RAG Fashion Show

What was important to us when selecting our charities this year was to choose charities who are often overshadowed and underfunded. LRFS19 aims to raise over £20,000 for Behind Closed Doors and Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, two charities we are extremely passionate about supporting.

Behind Closed Doors

An estimated 1.9m adults aged 16–59 years experienced domestic abuse in 2016 (ONS). Behind Closed Doors is a Leeds-based charity whose aim is to help prevent the escalation of violence and to help those affected stay safe. Their community team works within the Leeds Domestic Violence Service, supporting people who need help with significant practical issues like housing and civil legal proceedings, while the prevention and recovery staff support people with a focus on psychological and emotional recovery.

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is a charity aiming to improve survival rates for those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer by funding vital research. Despite being the 5th most common cause of cancer death in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives only 2% of the national spend on cancer research. Pancreatic cancer has one of the lowest survival rates of all cancers — only around 5% of patients survive beyond five years. We cannot allow that to continue.
